Kenneth "Irwin" Lockwood
Kenneth "Irwin" Lockwood, a resident of South Canaan, died Sunday in Abington Manor, Clark's Summit, from injuries suffered in a fall at his summer home in Lake Alden, Wayne County. He and his wifr, the former Hilda Shaffer, were maried 48 years in October 1994.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Kenneth H. and Alberta Shaffer Lockwood, he lived in South Canaan most of his life. He was a member of the Waymart High School Class of 1945. He was a navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He and his wife owned and operated Lockwood's Country Store in South Canaan, which was established in 1909 by his grandparents, H.S. and Minnie Lockwood. He was of the Protestant faith.
Other survivors include two sons, David and Dana, and a daughter, Dawn McKinney, all of South Canaan; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Keiff R. Lockwood, Kingsley.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Wilson Funeral Home, Route 296, Lake Ariel, with Rev. William Rushik, South Canaan Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, East Canaan Cemetery.
