Hilda Shaffer Lockwood

     Hilda Shaffer Lockwood of South Canaan, died early Wednesday morning at home. She was the widow of Kenneth Irwin Lcokwood who died March 12, 1995. They had been married for 48 years.

     Born February 23, 1929 in Waymart, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Beatrice Fielding Shaffer. She was a graduate of the Waymart High School class of 1946; she had resided in South Canaan since her marriage. She was postmaster of that town for 36 years and was affiliated along with her husband in Lockwood's Store for 50 years until her retirement in 1996. Shewas of the Methodist faith, a member and past matron of the Laurel Chaptor O.E.S.

     Surviving are: daughter, Dawn McKinney; two sons: David and Dana all of South Canaan; a brother Earl Shaffer of South Carolina; six grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 16 step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; caregiver Kathryn Taylor.

     The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m in the James Wilson Funeral home, Inc. Route 296 Lake Ariel, with services by Rev. William Rushik of the South Canaan Free Methodist Church, South Canaan.

     Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

     Interment will be in the east Canaan Cemetery, South Canaan.
