Harry Spencer Lockwood

     Harry S. Lockwood, 88, South Canaan, died Saturday, June 3 1972 at home after an illness.

     Born in Canaan Township, son of the John and celesta Swingle Lockwood, he resided 63 years in South Canaan, where he operated Lockwoods General Store from 1909 until 1965. He served as postmaster of South Canaan from 1915 to 1952.

     Mr. Lockwood was a director of Honesdale National Bank 53 years and was elected President of its board of directors in 1952. He served as chairman of the board from 1967 until his death.

     He was a member of South Canaan Bible Protestant Church, a 50-year member of Waymart Lodge No. 542, F&AM, and a member of Keystone Consistory, Scranton.

     Surviving are his Widow, the former Minnie Wagner; a son, Kenneth, Waymart; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and a Sister, Mrs. Mildred Davis, Carbondale. A daughter, Mrs, Lillian Bortree, died in 1937

     The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from James H Willson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel, with services by the Rev. Daniel Baker, South Canaan Bible Protestant Church. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery.
